Taking Shots

“Baby, it’s in the truck.”
Oh, yeah.
When Shea’s arms came around Elli’s waist. She smiled, running her hands over his forearms before turning in his arms and looked up into his eyes. “Are you going to see Allison today?” he asked as he nibbled on her neck.
“I am,” Elli said breathlessly before Shea ran his tongue under her ear, taking her ear lobe into his mouth.
“How much time do you have?” he whispered in her ear while his hands came down over her ass, pressing her into his hard length. The man never quit…not that she would ever ask him to.
“Mmm… five minutes, top.”
Elli was flat on her back before she could finish her sentence.
45 minutes later, Elli rushed through the house, fixing her clothes as she looked for her briefcase. Elli couldn’t say no to Shea if her life depended on it, even if she wanted to. She walked into the kitchen that had been painted while they were in St Luca to get her coffee. She admired the new pale green walls as she took a sip of her coffee. The interior designers Shea had hired were doing such a wonderful job; Elli loved it. She loved their home.
Elli found her briefcase and cut through the dining room to the living room, glancing up at the large portrait of Elli and Shea in front of the Belmont Mansion. Elli’s gown was sparkling and magnificent in the bright fall sun, while Shea’s black tux looked refined. Even with his damn Chucks, Shea still looked dashing.
And he was all hers, for the rest of their lives.
As she looked at the other pictures from their magical day, all she could do was smile. But then her eyes drifted to the picture of Elli with her family and her smile fell. She still couldn’t believe that Olivia hadn’t come to the wedding. Elli was still furious with her mother when the day came, and when Olivia didn’t show up to the wedding, Elli knew once and for all that Olivia never truly loved her. It still hurt though, not having those pictures of mother and daughter, blissfully happy. But it didn’t matter, she had Shea.
Elli glanced back up to the picture of her and Shea kissing, and her smile returned. Why should she dwell on something so sad, when she was married to the most amazing man in the world?
“Honey, I’m leaving!” Elli yelled as she slid her feet into her heels. Shea came around the corner, with only his boxers on as he walked with a little pep in his step. Gosh, the man drove her mad. He grinned as he wrapped her up in his arms, kissing her softly on his lips.
“Give Allison a kiss for me, and I’ll see you at 12:00, right?”
“Yup, when are your momma and daddy going to be here?”
“Around 4:00, I think? Grace is pissed they are staying with us and not her.”
Elli laughed; her new sister-in-law could get jealous so damn easily. “They haven’t stayed in the new house yet, Grace will be okay. Hell, invite her to stay, too. Ryan would love to stay in his room.”
Shea smiled, kissing the side of her mouth, “I will.”
“Alright, love ya.”
“Love you more. Have a good day.”
“Will do,” Elli said with a grin.
She walked past the picture of her and Shea in front of the Cup that the Assassins had won a week after they had gotten back together. What a great day that was. She had went to every single game to cheer her fiancé on and it was one of the greatest feelings ever, watching her man hold that cup over his head. Elli couldn’t ask for anything better than what she had. She was so happy that she was convinced she would walk around with a permanent grin on her face.
Elli got into her truck and drove around the circular driveway, heading towards the hospital. After stopping to get flowers in the gift shop for Allison, Elli made her way up to the maternity wing. Since she and Shea had been there yesterday, Elli knew where to go. When she entered the room, Harper stood with sweet baby Allison in her arms, walking back and forth in front of the bed.
When Harper looked up at Elli with a panicked expression on her face, Elli became worried.
“I’m fu-screwed, Elli.”
Elli giggled, laying the flowers on the table beside the bed, and then heading to look at the bundle of pink in Harper’s arms. Allison was red from where she had been crying and Elli could tell she was a little fussy.
“Why, what’s wrong?”
“She’s just like me and she’s only one day old!”
“Harper, she is beautiful, perfect. She’s probably just hungry.”
“See, that’s where I say she takes after Jakob. She eats all the damn time!”
They both looked down at Allison’s beautiful little pink face, and Elli smiled while Harper just looked scared out of her mind.
“Aw, she’s sweet.”
“Whatever, you’re just blinded by the cuteness.”
“Probably,” Elli agreed as she took the baby in her arms, loving the feel of something so sweet and perfect resting in her arms.
“Did you tell him yet?”
Elli laid her lips softly to Allison’s forehead before shaking her head. “Not yet.”
“But you will today, right?”
“Yeah. When he signs the contract today, he’ll see.”
“Good,” Harper said, just as Jakob entered the room. He was decked out in his “I’m a Daddy” shirt.
“Elli! Where’s Shea?”
Elli smiled as Jakob took Allison from her, kissing her head.
“He’s doing yard work or something, I don’t know.”
Oh, yeah.
